'40s Hitch Flicks on TCM
Program the TiVo! Tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon Turner Classic Movies will be showing four films from the '40s directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

I highly recommend Rope (showing at 2:15 p.m.), a homoerotic suspense thriller based on the play by Patrick Hamilton, author of Gaslight. The movie is famous for Hitchcock's experimental editing technique, which makes the entire movie appear to have been shot in one take.

I also suggest you postpone your dinner for Shadow of a Doubt (showing at 6 p.m.), an oft-overlooked Hitchcock classic that boasts playwright Thornton Wilder among its writing credits. Joseph Cotten stars as the ultimate anti-family man in this suburban shocker about a serial killer on the loose.
